About kinesiology

What does a kinesiologist do? It's a question we hear a lot

What is kinesiology?

It’s a question that stumps many people, even clients who regularly come in for a session! Yep, kinesiology may be hard to explain – but there’s no doubt it works, and can help you in may different ways. For example, can kinesiology give you the motivation to lose weight? Will it help you let go of a bad relationship (or fix a good one)? Can it help improve your confidence, or come to terms with troubling past events? The short answer is, yes – often it can.

What does a kinesiologist do?

It’s a question kinesiologists hear a lot – so let’s take a crack at it.

Essentially, a kinesiologist does years of training to learn how to access ‘energy’ (known as Chi in Chinese medicine) and its movement in the body. This may happen while you’re lying on the kinesiologist’s table in the clinic, or via a proxy session. During an in-person session, you may get a sense that the kinesiologist is ‘talking’ to your body in ways you can’t explain. And that’s exactly what they’re doing: using different tools to identify stresses and imbalances in your body’s energy systems.

How does kinesiology work?

Kinesiology works by fixing or correcting imbalances in your body. Left alone, these imbalances can affect aspects of your life. They’re usually related to many different energies in the body – be it structural, emotional, chemical, physical, or spiritual. During a balance, we use what’s known as ‘muscle testing’ to communicate with your body. This technique enabling the kinesiologist to access, detect and correct imbalances in the body.

What is kinesiology good for?

Kinesiology can enhance, defuse, assist and elevate many areas of your well-being. Regular clients report that it helps enormously with:

  • Defusing stress
  • Learning difficulties
  • Fatigue, anxiety and depression
  • Goal development and accomplishments
  • Alleviating fears, past traumas, habits and phobias
  • Personal development and awareness
  • Food sensitivities (allergies)
  • Balancing physical, emotional and structural pain
  • Promoting clarity of thoughts and decision-making
  • Helping you fulfil your potential and gain happiness.

Every client who attends kinesiology is treated as an individual – because your imbalances will never be the same as someone else’s. For this reason, each balance is different, tapping into your own healing potential and what’s needed for you on the day. Your body knows what’s required for healing to take place – and the kinesiologist’s role is to help facilitate the body into that awareness.

How will I feel after a kinesiology session?

You may feel exhilarated, lighter on your feet, with a sense of resilience or contentment. Or, you may feel weepy, exhausted and a bit out of sorts – until things start to settle down a bit.

How you feel all depends on the issue worked on during the session – and sometimes you may need a few sessions to get to the bottom of certain issues. Or, you may need a day or two to process it all.

Always contact your practitioner for a chat if you’re concerned about how you’re feeling!
